From September 8 to 11, 2025, the city of Lyon hosted the XXXVIIIth International Congress of the IULTCS (International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies), a world-class scientific and industrial event under the theme:
"Beyond Leather Tradition, Innovation and Sustainability".
This exceptional event brought together the international community of leather chemists, technicians and researchers to share their knowledge and discuss the major issues facing the industry: innovation, sustainability and new environmental challenges.
A Lyon edition made possible by exemplary commitment
This 2025 edition of the IULTCS Congress could not have taken place in Lyon without thecommitment and determination of Mr. Jean-Pierre Gualino, founder of ATC, former International President of IULTCS and Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
His involvement highlighted the excellence and expertise of the French leather industry, while underlining the international recognition of ATC's know-how. Under his leadership, AFICTIC (Association Française des Chimistes et Techniciens de l'Industrie du Cuir), with the support of CTC, SIC SA and numerous partners, successfully organized this event in a region emblematic of innovation, tradition and industrial heritage.
ATC, partner and sponsor committed to the future of leather
đ As an official sponsor of the Congress, ATC Tannery Chemicals was honored to support and actively participate in this international gathering.
For over 50 years, ATC has placed innovation, quality and sustainability at the heart of its priorities, and this event represented a new opportunity to share this vision with all players in the industry.
đŹ Thanks to its constant investment in research and development, and a team dedicated to innovation and eco-responsible processes, ATC was able to present its latest advances and discuss concrete solutions to support the sustainable transformation of the leather industry.
Its commitment to supporting scientific and technical events such as IULTCS testifies to its desire to promote the dissemination of knowledge and strengthen international collaboration.
ATC would like to thank its entire team who were mobilized for the event:
Beatrice Renard, Agathe, Emilie Hussenot, Frédéric Boutillier, Michel Deville, Zulfe and Jean-Baptiste Gualino.
Their commitment and professionalism have contributed to ATC's reputation and strengthened ties with numerous international partners.
An event focused on innovation and sustainability
The theme "Beyond Leather Tradition, Innovation and Sustainability" inspired numerous conferences and discussions.
Participants explored new approaches to leather chemistry, reducing the environmental impact of processes, thecircular economy, and emerging technologies for a more responsible industry.
Lyon, the historic cradle of the leather and silk industries, provided the ideal setting for this collective reflection between tradition and modernity. The event highlighted the French industry's ability to combine industrial heritage with sustainable innovation.
This year's IULTCS International Congress in Lyon will be remembered for the quality of the exchanges, the diversity of the scientific contributions and the shared desire to imagine a more sustainable leather.
ATC is proud to have taken part in this event and to continue supporting research, innovation and sustainability within the industry.
đ The adventure will continue in 2027 in LeĂłn, Mexico, where the international leather community will gather once again to continue the work begun and strengthen collaboration between industry players.
